Still Raising Hell - Interview with Co Founder & Lead Singer of TROOPER - RA MCGUIRE

Canada's #1 Rock Band, TROOPER!

The union between vocalist Ramon McGuire and guitarist Brian Smith in 1975 made a huge mark for Canadian Rock lovers and Party Rockers from around the world.  Nearly 37 years later, Trooper is crisscrossing Canada on their most successful tour ever - with shows from the PNE in Vancouver, to the Regina Ex, to the Canadian National Exhibition in Toronto, to the Come Home Year festivities in St. Anthony Newfoundland!

It's no exaggeration to say that Trooper has become a Canadian legend. They continue to perform their huge collection of hits with the vitality and sense of humor that has served them well on their steady march through the hills and valleys of Canadian Rock and Roll.

"We're Here for a Good Time (Not a Long Time)", "Raise a Little Hell", "The Boys in the Bright White Sportscar", "Two For the Show", "Pretty Lady" "Good Ol' General Hand Grenade", "Round, Round We Go", "Santa Maria", "Janine" - just a few of the Trooper hits that have sold millions of records, sold-out shows across Canada, a Juno Award (Canada's Grammy) for Band of the Year, and several major endorsements including Universal Music's acknowledgement as "one of Canada's top five selling bands of all time" and the Vancouver Sun has called them "Canadian rock heroes of the first order ... the best performing band in Canada".

Apart from being the lead singer and co founder of Trooper,
Ra McGuire co-manages the band, and is the president of a record company (Great Pacific Records) and a publishing company (P.O.P. Publishing). Ra is currently under contract as an artist or songwriter with Universal Music, BMG Music, Warner Music, and Sony/ATV Publishing. He's also an active member of SOCAN, ACTRA, The Alliance of Canadian Cinema, Television and Radio Artists, AVLA and The American Federation of Musicians Local 145.

More recently he's become a best selling author (you can check out his book, "Here for a Good Time", here) and a national radio and TV personality - logging frequent appearances on the CBC as both host and guest.

The interview I had with Ra McGuire was great. He was kind enough to take the time to do it, and we are honored to have him and his bands legendary music a part of UNIR1 Radio!  Ra and his band are a great example of what hard work, determination, lots of creation, time, sweat and a whole lot of rock n roll can achieve! Trooper is a band that has no limits which makes them a milestone in the music business.
